Osotspa Becomes Thailand’s 1st Manufacturer Certified by COSMOS standard, And Ready to Expand Its Local and International Personal Care Product Markets

Osotspa is ready to expand the local and international markets for its personal care products, after becoming the first company in Thailand to secure COSMOS organic certificates for its product and production process and thereby building greater consumer confidence. It is working to raise its production capacity for personal care products to 68,000 tones per year.
Mrs. Wannipa Bhakdibutr, President of Osotspa PCL. (OSP), a leading Thailand-based consumer products manufacturer and distributor,revealed that OSP took prides in owning the first baby product brand and the first production plant in Thailand to be certified by COSMOS, Europe’s most-trusted international organisation that certifies organic products standards. The company acquires both a “Certificate of COSMOS Natural” and a “Certificate of COSMOS Organic.” Receiving both standards signifies satisfaction of their highest level. The certification is another major achievement of Osotspa and guarantees the exceptional quality, safety and production standards of the company’s personal care products.
The certification followed Osotspa’s moves to conduct product research and development activities and perform rigorous production process control in compliance with COSMOS’s established rules and guidelines, including those requiring the sourcing of raw materials/ingredients from organic farms with COSMOS Certificates, the employment of a chemical-free production process, the eco-friendly packaging, the contamination-free storage and transport as well as the transparency and COSMOS-approved quality in the area of distributing products to customers.
“The consumer today are more health-conscious. This is especially true for younger mothers when the selection of products for their babies is concerned. That has led to the increasing popularity of organic products. With the COSMOS-standard certification, which is an excellent marketing tool, we have introduced Organik by Babi Mild as a brand of organic products for babies, as their bodies are highly sensitive and susceptible to allergies and need special care. Given that an organic product is a product that is of high quality, safe and chemical-free, we also expect the brand to attract the women with sensitive skins that are prone to allergies. The introduction of organic products will increase our competitiveness and help us in sustaining the overall growth rate for personal care products, after posting a 8.5% rise in sales for the segment for the previous year”, Mrs. Wannipa added.
Osotspa has invested THB 167 million in a project involving expansion of the production plant for personal care products of Greensville Co., Ltd. in Bangkok’s Lat Krabang district. It will keep the plant construction activities under strict control to ensure satisfaction of applicable standards, including COSMOS-standard. Expected to begin commercial operation by the end of this year, the plant expansion will grow the capacity to produce the relevant line of products to 68,000 tonnes per year, which will facilitate the implementation of the plans to launch new products and more marketing campaigns in the future.
