The Department of Internal Trade and Osotspa Join Forces to Reduce the Cost of Living for Thais by Lowering the Cost of Goods at Thong Fah (Blue Flag) Shops Nationwide

Osotspa, Thailand’s leading consumer products producer and distributor, recently gave a boost to the government’s campaign to rev up the country’s economic growth by teaming up with the Department of Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce, adding more consumer products at special prices supporting the Thong Fah (Blue Flag) Pracharat project which features products with low prices to reduce the cost of living for Thais.

Mr. Wattanasak Sur-iam, Director General of the Department of Internal Trade, said that the Thong Fah (Blue Flag) Pracharat schemes an important government mechanism to assist people by responding to a shortage of goods or high-priced products. The project’s main purpose is to offer quality products at fair prices with clear price tags on each item, ensuring that consumers are not being taken advantage of. When consumers see the blue flag, they can be sure they are purchasing products at fair and reasonable prices. Furthermore, the Department of Internal Trade is continuously collaborating with many producers and distributors to ensure that consumers are spoiled for choice.

“The Department of Internal Trade has received tremendous cooperation from the private sector in which all related parties to the Thong Fah (Blue Flag) shops have expressed a common interest in helping people as much as they can, particularly amid the COVID-19 crisis. Meanwhile, Osotspa, in spearheading the Thong Fah (Blue Flag) Pracharat project, is playing a pivotal role by lowering the price of their products. This collaboration truly brings benefits to consumers.” said Director General of Department of Internal Trade.

Mrs. Wannipa Bhakdibutr, President of Osotspa Public Company Limited, said that Osotspa has always been supportive of the Ministry of Commerce’s policy to develop and continue the Thong Fah (Blue Flag) shop ensuring that low-priced goods are offered, and that the community can be relied on to assist low-income earners and making sure people have access to good quality products. In cooperating with the Department of Internal Trade, Osotspa’s wide range of popular consumer products at reasonable prices are available at Thong Fah (Blue Flag) outlets and shops nationwide including children’s products, body powders, lotions, soaps, shower creams, and shampoos under the brand of Baby Mild, Twelve Plus, as well as drink products under the C-vitt and M-150 brands.

“Osotspa is committed to providing quality consumer products to consumers and stands ready to support the government’s initiatives to reduce the cost of living and boost domestic economic growth. The company has therefore joined the Ministry of Commerce’s Thong Fah (Blue Flag) Pracharat project since 2018. A variety of Osotspa products are sold at below market prices at the Thong Fah (Flag) outlets and shops across the country. This year, the company decided to add more items to the list of consumer products available, going from 31 to 41 items providing increased product diversification and ensuring that the needs of consumers will be met,” said Mrs. Wannipa.

Mr. Worrapong Suwanwilaikul, owner of ‘Niyom’ retailing-wholesaling shop in Nonthaburi, said, “My ‘Niyom’ retailing-wholesaling shop is a mom-and-pop store located in Bang Kluay - Sai Noi. It was opened in March when the country was hit by the abrupt spread of COVID-19. We were severely affected by the pandemic as consumers were reluctant to buy products. Several initiatives by the government, including the ‘Thong Fah (Blue Flag) Pracharat and the ‘Half of Each Person’ projects were implemented to provide help and are good-cause programs, and they substantially benefit shops and customers. My shop has managed to double our number of consumers. I would like to thank the government and private sector, particularly Osotspa, for their continued support in providing a variety of products at affordable prices which greatly benefit consumers at my shop.”
