Osotspa Opens Organic Farming Model for Disabled Villagers at Ubonrat District, Khon Kaen Province

Osotspa PCL recently held the opening ceremony of the organic farming model for Disabled villagers at Ubonrat district, Khon Kaen province. Ms. Siriporn Jungtrakoon, Khon Kaen Governor’s spouse, presided over the ceremony. Greeted by Ms.Sutida Siamharn, Head of Corporate Communication and CSR, and Mr.Saroj Intaphan, Head of External Affairs, she was brought to the farm tour where she harvested and felt the freshness of crunchy organic vegetables that are planted with care by the disabled villagers.

Osotspa established this organic farming model for disabled villagers, which is a part of the job training project which complies to the law on promotion and development of people with disabilities (section 35), under the concept of “teaching a man to fish to feed him for a lifetime”. Complying with the Persons with Disabilities Empowerment Act, the company focuses on enabling the disabled persons to live on their own and earn income. The local physical therapist network has provided a big contribution to the project by educating and helping the disabled to restore.

This organic farming model was set up by seven members, consisting of the disabled persons and the guardians of the disabled persons. Together, they have transformed the six-rai abandoned plot to the green organic farm producing safe food for the locals and becoming the model of farm for disabled people. The farm has four parts, including 1) vegetable gardens and greenhouses2) bio fertilizer and vermicast house 3) mushroom nursery4) demonstration area.
